Behind the songs

The TinMen have left a trail online – what with the videos of our last two sets at The Gov and there was this interview with Radio Adelaide’s Songcatcher program about the band and our songwriting. There’s also a playlist of our songs that were played in the interview. Thanks Clayton and Adrian from Songcatcher for having us.

Gig rescued – Sat 28/8

Hi. Good news! I hate to sound like the boy who cried wolf but this time the unpredictability of COVID has delivered us a positive and we are now allowed to play our gig at The Wheaty Sat 28/8 (Free entry – doors open 730 pm – bands from 8 pm)

Our thanks go out to our co-hosts The Western Schism for being such good sports and we look forward to sharing the stage with them.

We’d love to see you there and we are looking forward to playing a set of our original blues tunes for you. We hope you can make it. Don’t miss out – capacity is probably limited to 60 – 70 and two bands could see that reached.

Bad luck cancels Fri 13/8 gig

Not that we’re superstitious but we will not be playing at The King’s Head next Friday the 13th of August.

Our previous date (the 30th of July) was cancelled due to the SA lockdown and rescheduled but due to lockdowns in other states and uncertainty of lockdowns, travel and quarantine restrictions

So the next diary date is Thursday the 26th of August from 8:00 pm at The Gov’s Gumbo Room (free entry) – 59 Port Road Hindmarsh. Click here for directions.

We hope to see you there. Cheers.

SCALA Set List Preview

Hi there TinMen fans, friends, and family.

Due to popular demand in the sunny and far flung outposts of The TinMen followers we are pleased to provide a preview of the tasty tunes we’ll be serving up at SCALA Live at The Wheaty this week.

Wish us luck and hopefully we’ll see you there.

Some of the songs are so new the ink hasn’t dried from our tears falling on the page as the heartfelt emotions of life, love and loss were poured forth onto the page in inspired emotional gushes of angst.

Luckily we serve these nuggets with a large dose of healthy fun and humour as well – life’s too short after all.

And in other fortunate news just in from our correspondent on the spot Tinny Lewis the Premier of SA says no singing but performers are still allowed to practice their professional and other lines of trade so it looks at this stage as the show will still go on but in these times who knows – You may have to wait till July 30th to see us at The King’s Head Pub from 6:30 to 9:30 if we aren’t so lucky before this week’s gig.

Fingers crossed.

SCALA at The Wheaty

The TinMen continue their epic World Tour of Adelaide’s Western Suburbs, with a roaring full-tilt free concert on THURSDAY JULY 1st at 7:30 pm in The Tin Shed at The Wheaty – 39 George St Thebarton. This will be a set of our originals – it’s put on by SCALA – tickets $8 at the door or online (doors open at 7 support act at 7:30 pm The TinMen at 8:30 pm).

Face it. We ain’t travellin’ nowhere, so getting amongst it in our finest local blues dens is the very best option we have – especially when The TinMen whip up a red hot serving of the blues.

The TinMen play dusky blues of a local stripe, where the hot howling breath of Chicago’s south side meets the huff and puff of Adelaide’s suburban toil. Respectful of the great blues harp and guitar masters – Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, T-Bone Walker – TinMen shape the sound to fit comfortably inside a nifty, nimble four-piece combo that shimmies and shakes in all the right places. Our kinda blues, from the Southside o’ Croydon.

Better still, this tour will be the public showcase of a whole batch of new TinMen original songs. Smirkin’ Martin Davies, The TinMen’s erstwhile guitarist, vocalist and gentle man of modest means, spent his lockdown penance wisely, whittlin’ away at fresh tunes and attaching just the right amount of complaining to conjure up a mighty collection of his own blues standards. Proud and defiant TinMen songs – true blue, through and through.

The TinMen World Tour of Adelaide’s Western Suburbs will continue with a gig at The King’s Head Pub, on Friday July 30th – free 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Then it’s back to The Gov’s Gumbo Room on Thursday August 26 (free) – and back to The Wheatsheaf on Saturday August 28 (free).

Subscribe to our web page or follow us on FaceBook for email updates and notifications. Put a ring around these dates and be a part of the action. Pour yourself a long drink and get ready to stomp your shoes. There’s gonna be a raging blue party goin’ on.
